I'm ALIVE!

Yikkkkkes! Sorry friends, that is do I still have friends who read this blog? I've been a terrible blogger lately and I do apologize. My only real (I mean LAME!) excuse is that January was a month full of travel. Traveling is such a blessing isn't? It's SOOOO nice to get out of your comfort zone and try new things and have fun experiences with friends and family. Don't you agree?

This month started off with a quick trip to Naples, FL with my sweet parents, then a couples ski trip to Breckenridge, CO where I skied my first day of blacks and then just this past weekend I was in the amazing city of NYC for a quick girls weekend. If you know me well you know that my FAVORITE place outside of the Fort is NYC so I wanted to do a quick recap of what all was done this trip.

I got into town on Thursday morning and checked into our hotel. The InterContinental Barclay was a great place to stay because of its close proximity to 5th Avenue shopping. I grabbed a quick lunch solo and headed to shop some on 5th. I hit up all my favorites, but had the most luck at Zara. That night me and my girlfriend (Hi Clam!) saw Mary Poppins. OMG it was amazing. The show truly does make you feel like a kid again in the best way possible. After the show we hit up Orso, my all time favorite after theater spot for a late dinner and it was delicious as always.

Friday morning I woke up early to meet a dear friend for breakfast at the Ace Hotel...best steel cut oats ever. Then more girlfriends arrived into town and we hit up 5th Avenue for some more shopping and a late lunch at the Food Hall at the Plaza hotel. I love this spot because of its large menu and lively atmosphere. The marble tables that somewhat resemble our kitchen table don't hurt either. Friday night we got drinks at Catch, I'm hoping to actually eat at this restaurant next time and then had dinner at Buddakan. WOW, was I impressed with Buddakan's food, holy moly it was delicious. My favorite thing from our meal were the carrot dumplings, but then again the lobster spring rolls were good too and about everything else we ate. Bottom line...eat at Buddakan.

Saturday we headed out early for some shopping on Madison Avenue and then made our way down to SoHo. We ate lunch at a favorite spot of mine down in that hood called Locanda Verde. It was jumping and I was beyond glad we had a reservation. You must get the Sheep's Milk Ricotta/Bread for a starter, addicting...however, while they serve it with great fresh bread, ask instead for them to serve with their focaccia bread that they serve at dinner time, even better. We finished up Saturday with more shopping, a standout store was The Meadow, a salt and chocolate shop off of Bleecker.

Saturday night we had vino/cheese/crackers/girl time in our room which really was so fun and then headed to Ostseria Morini for a yummmmmy, and VERY filling dinner. If you visit this place you must get a pasta and one of the many ice cream flavors for dessert, the pistachio was divine.

Sorry for the novel guys, but I just adore NYC and always love to journal what all I do on each trip.

I'll be back this week (I PROMISE!) with lots of recipes!
